Some People Just Don’t Get It

June 20, 2008

As you know, I am currently studying in a catholic institution wherein a scolarship grant is being given to people who almost has nothing but the desire to study and help their families. Now we are facing a dilemma, an issue with regards to wether we are really part of the unfortunate society or not….

we were given many rules, but among those rules, there were three that made an impact to us. No cellphones, No special relationships  and study hard.

Everyone claims that he/she is studying his/her hardest. But to the first two rules, some people just don’t get how crucial those two rules are. Let’s put it this way, if you see a beggar listning to an MP3, or, holding an iPhone on his ear or maybe shouting in triumph while playing a Sony PSP, would you still feel humble enough to give him something so he may eat? You may be even be shocked that he has those cool gadgets that you’ve been drooling about for months or years. Its just like that, our reputation here is we are the chosen ones, the ones who had nothing but was given an opportunity to study. the least we can do is prove them right in choosing us.

Like I have said, many of us seem to be blind in this matter. Other mentors and alumnis gave us some advices and the common thing they say is “Sure you can use them (cellphones) but not in public, falling in love cannot be prevented so we don’t kill you if if had special relationships. The catch is you must not let these things get with your studies” and that is all. The whole organizations name is at risk. sigh

I admit that I posted this entry with a little feeling of insecurities to some but I think some of what iI have written has a point…

Note:

I have no bad intention in posting this entry, i just want to say what i feel.
